Sumac High low pile. I wanted to push a fresher design aesthetic with knots rugs.
Expanding on the type of rugs available at knots has opened up the market to supply a larger variety of rugs to interior designers.
This particular design also helps facilitate the needs of a customer who is interested in Minimal/Scandi interiors with a contemporary clean look.
inspired by 1920’s Tiles I developed a design that kept a clean contemporary edge while still nodding to the 1920’s era. Using looping , hand blending / Abrash , wool and silk gives a one colour design interest and depth.
Using my hand drawn skills to redraw and recolour artwork originally from vintage 17th century rugs.
I was asked to visit Nepal where Knots Rugs production takes place. This trip allowed me to gain a unique understanding into the rug weaving process.

After the success of the first colour way we decided to create a neutral option in off whites and sandy tones. The subtle gradient in yarns combined with the detailed hand knotting technic allows this rug to have depth and subtile gradient in colours with no harsh lines that can be found in tufted rugs.

AIDA SHORDITCH HOMEWEAR.
I have been lucky enough to have taken part in the creation of these screen printed cushion covers. Simple textured design with accenting copper foil have just the right balance between a rustic hand made look with a polished high end finish.
Following the success of the first year of AIDA HOMEWEAR I have continued to aid the development of the new collection. Expanding on the range of products we still continue to introduce the customer to something a little different. Each item has been produced not only to look beautiful , but to make a difference to the people involved in the process.
It is always a privilege to take part in the project and I hope they aid in transforming you're home into a sanctuary.

Working In a small boutique located on Brick Lane, London gave me a great opportunity to speak directly to the companies who were stocked in store.
One of these companies was Pippa Lynn, who are forward thinking in garment cut and fabric choices. Digital prints and geometric panels add innovative detail to textured jerseys, power mesh and neoprenes.
I worked closely with the team and created a print that has sold-out in stores nationwide, gaining a feature on the cover of STYLIST magazine in February '15.

Being abel to understand the handwriting of a brand important to me as designs and technique need to be cohesive and work with current designs already in the collection.
Work for my degree collection focused on life underwater. My inspiration was identified in various forms found within the water from delicate swathes of luminescent coral to caves and rock pools inhabited by alien like sea creatures.
With my collection I explored life underwater with a contemporary vision. Minerals, crystallised rocks, plant life and their environment form the basis that underpinned my designs. These formations provide endless amounts of structures, textures and shapes found within the fragile coral reefs that sprawl out like ornaments decorating the sea floor. The different layers of life, the fluidity and the vivid visceral tranquillity created in this strange labyrinth landscape feed into my designs with contemporary fabric and colour choices.
I created my own contemporary interpretations and realistic visualisations of water, corals, rocks and crystals using a variety of printed textile techniques.
The fabric created for this collection pushed my screen printing and design process by introducing new tactile fabrics that have a duality in different lighting environments. This has given the collection a unique, interesting and contemporary aesthetic.

‘Niamh Burgess explored a cool and contemporary underwater concept within her womenswear collection. Hits of neon’s and brights fuse and mingle with metallic bubbles, pearl and aqua shades. Intricate, technological sea creatures emerge from a coral underworld. Burgess pushed her concept further with the use of specialised pearlised glitters, foils, and fluorescent and neon pigments. Corcoran said it was ‘a beautiful, original collection with on-trend colour approaches’.
